Fonda San Miguel welcomed MexNet Alliance on this past 8th of June to mark the organization’s first anniversary and to announce the Sabores Autenticos de Mexico Dinner Gala, which will take place on September 13th and will celebrate the Bicentennial of the Mexican Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution.
Among the event’s distinguished guests was Rosalba Ojeda, the Consul General of Mexico; Monica Peraza, President of MexNet Alliance; Tom Gilliland, owner of Fonda San Miguel and host of the event; and Chef David Garrido.
The evening also featured the “Liquid Chef” Junior Merino, the most famous Hispanic mixologist in the world. Merino presented some of his most famous cocktail creations, such as the Bicentennario, which is made from huitlacoche, blackberries, and tequila. This cocktail will also be featured at the Sabores Autenticos de Mexico Dinner Gala at the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts.
Cocktails by Junior Merino
Mercenario Cocktail:
an intriguing pulque concoction with the sweetness of tejocote, the citrus surprise of lemongrass, and fragant elderflower on a nixtamal base.
Cubico Martini:
The exotic and refreshing essence of pineaple and lemon in an agave base.
Bicentenario:
A liquid festival of contrasts, the complexity of huitlacoche, the delicacy of blackberries and the tart sweetness of tamarind, this drink honors 200 years of Mexican history!
To accompany these outstanding beverages, Fonda San Miguel planned a delicious assortment of Hors d’œuvres that included:
